Close leftover VOEs without a verification floor.
When The Work Number has no record, Halorite finds the HR number, works the phone tree, email and fax in parallel, 24/7, and writes back employed, title, dates and income — or a documented non-response — with the recording. Pay per completed verification.
Example data. Names, employers and amounts are illustrative.
Of employment verifications still need outreach after the instant database, in Superunit’s 2026 report of 200,000+ files.
Median to complete a leftover file. 17% need 11 or more. First-call completion on a 19,363-call test was 4.19%.
Restaurant and transportation completion in that same industry table. Those are the leftover of the leftover.
Finds the HR number. Works the tree. Email and fax at the same time.
Specialists Google the number themselves — they do not call the one the applicant handed them. Halorite does that lookup, then runs phone, email and fax in parallel, 24/7, including the 11am local window where completion per call actually peaks. You are not staffing a floor for a job that closes on the 4th, 5th or 11th try.
- Borrower- or applicant-supplied numbers are not dialed first
- SOS, listed main, and payroll vendor pages compared
- Cell phones skipped unless you already have consent
- Dial (503) 555-0100 · “Press 1 for dispatch, 2 for safety, 3 for payroll”
- Press 3 · hold 8:12 · “payroll is out until 1”
- Callback · reached “this is Jen in payroll” · recording on
- Title, dates, full-time, $24.10/hr confirmed
- Email runs while the phone tree is holding
- Income asked on the recorded call, not only in the inbox
- Thread stored on the order
- Small offices still live on fax
- Blank income line queues a recorded call
- Both pages stored with the order
Employed, title, dates, income. Or a documented no.
The file cannot clear on “we left a voicemail.” Halorite returns the facts a CRA or lender actually needs, with the recording and transcript attached, or it closes unable-to-verify with every attempt time-stamped. That is the output your compliance team will look at, not a chat log.
- Verifier: “this is Dana, GM” · 14 Oct 11:06 local
- Full-time, eligible for rehire not asked
- Applicant had listed “shift supervisor” — employer said cook
- Agent: this call is recorded. Is now a good time for an employment verification?
- Dana: yes, GM. I can confirm dates and title. Wage is fine.
- Agent: is Maya Chen currently employed as of today?
- Dana: yes. Cook, started March 12 last year, $18.50.
Example transcript. Recording consent is stated on the call. Two-party states do not continue without it.

If leftover VOE is still a floor, Halorite is for you
The database hits the easy third. Someone still has to chase restaurants, trucking shops and small LLCs until the SLA.

Soul-crushing leftover calls, and files that stall the deal
“soul-crushing.”
“If I have this technology, we will dominate the field.”
“We were growing quickly and losing customers because we couldn't meet their expectations.”
“VVOE was a hell hole and that's a lot considering UWM as a whole too.”
“Employers are dicks.”
“I have also heard that it’s a cat and mouse game with the employer which makes the job frustrating which I would agree with.”
“it's soo hard, sometimes impossible, to hit commitment.”
“My experience with sterling is that they barely make an attempt to verify. They likely sent an email once and didn't get a response in a few days.”

For comparison: Superunit prices leftover chase from $1.50 per confirmed order and does not charge when it cannot confirm. In-house leftover files are $15–$40+ on Superunit’s own table. A First Advantage verification specialist is $16–$20/hr. Truework VOE is $59.95. TWN is about $73–$105 when it hits — and it misses these employers.
How Halorite compares
| Option | Cost | Covers leftover employers | What you pay for | What you get back |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Halorite | $6–14 / completed verification | Yes — restaurants, trucking, small LLCs, and a documented non-response | Closed file, including unable-to-verify with an attempt log | Recording, transcript and result written back to your queue |
| In-house verification team | $15–40+ / file (Superunit’s published table); specialists $16–20/hr at First Advantage, ~$54k median | Yes, if you can keep people on a 5- to 11-touch chase | Attempts, plus whatever the specialist logged | A note in the file; recording only if you already record |
| BPO verification floor | Wages plus turnover; Medina’s frame is price at or under the BPO, 24/7 | Yes, on day shift, with ramp and attrition | Completed-call metrics, which floors game | A form. Recording if the BPO records |
| The Work Number and other instant databases | ~$73.45 PAYG, ~$105 customer fee after 1 Jan 2026; Truework VOE $59.95 / VOI $64.95 | No — about 65% of files still need outreach; TWN is 73% of named database hits | A hit, or no record found | A database report. No call recording, because there was no call |
| Superunit | From $1.50 / completed order; no charge if it cannot confirm | Yes, on the 70% it completes; restaurants 54%, trucking 49% | Confirmed-at-source only | Recording and transcript on completed confirms; leftover TAT stays yours |
| Verification fulfillment vendors | Truework $59.95–$64.95; older CRA add-on EVs around $10; TWN pass-through $63–$87 | Sometimes — Vault Verify-style vendors already sit on HireRight / Sterling / First Advantage queues | A report, on their TAT (often 3–7 days) | A PDF. Call recording if that vendor records |
Questions verifications managers ask
Straight answers on price, leftover employers, authorization, recording and how this sits next to TWN and Superunit.
What is Halorite?
Halorite is an AI agent that closes leftover verbal VOE and VOI — the employers that are not in The Work Number. It finds the HR number, works the phone tree, email and fax in parallel, 24/7, and returns employed, title, dates and income, or a documented non-response, with a recording and transcript written back to your CRA platform or LOS. You pay per completed verification, not per attempt.
How much does Halorite cost?
Software is $6 per completed verification: the agent does the chase and you review the recording. Managed is $14 per completed verification and adds a person who checks the recording before it hits your queue, and writes the result back. Custom is for volume, Encompass write-back or a dedicated leftover queue. There is no setup fee. You are billed on closed files, including documented non-response.
What counts as a completed verification?
A file is complete when Halorite returns a verified result (employed, title, dates, income when the employer will disclose it) or a documented non-response with the attempt log: who was called, when, the phone tree, emails, faxes, and the recording of every live conversation. Superunit’s published model charges only when the source confirms, and does not charge after failed outreach. Halorite bills the closed leftover so your TAT clock can stop.
How do you handle authorization, recording and the audit trail?
Each order needs the applicant’s signed authorization and a permissible purpose before outreach starts — about five fields plus the auth, which is how background-check firms already send work to fulfillment vendors. Calls are recorded and transcribed. Several states (including CA, FL, IL, PA and WA) require every party’s consent to record; the agent states that it is recording and does not continue a recorded call without it. Business landlines are the default; cell phones are not dialed without prior consent because the FCC treats AI voices as artificial voice under TCPA. The recording, transcript and attempt log sit on the order so your compliance team can see the authorization, the recording and who was reached.
How is this different from The Work Number?
The Work Number is the instant database. Superunit’s 2026 report, from 200,000+ verifications, says about 65% of files still need outreach, and when a named third-party platform is used, 73% of the time it is TWN. Equifax raised the customer fee to about $105 on 1 January 2026 (ClearStar); Superunit’s blog puts public pay-as-you-go at $73.45. TWN does not cover restaurants, trucking shops and small LLCs at anything like that hit rate. Halorite is the leftover chase after TWN has no record. Keep TWN for the easy third.
How is this different from Superunit?
Superunit already sells leftover employer chase from $1.50 per completed order, 70% employment completion, and does not charge when it cannot confirm. Halorite’s wedge is the hard third of that leftover: restaurants complete at 54% and transportation at 49% in Superunit’s own industry table, 17% of completed files need 11+ touches, and first-call completion on a 19,363-call TTS test was 4.19%. Those files still sit on a CRA’s TAT. Halorite bills a documented non-response as completed, with the recording and attempt log, so the file can move.
Which employers actually get completed?
The ones not in The Work Number: restaurants and food service (54% complete in Superunit’s 2026 industry table), transportation and logistics (49%), retail, construction, small LLCs, and anyone whose HR is still a phone tree. Schools and government confirm about 3 in 4 on that same table; those are not the wedge. Median time to complete in that dataset is 15.5 hours; the slowest 10% take about 3.8 days. Fannie Mae still wants a verbal check of current employment within 10 business days of the note date — that window is the mortgage SLA, not Superunit’s median.
Which software does Halorite work with?
Orders come in from TazWorks, AIO Data, Encompass, Checkr, HireRight, Sterling, First Advantage, Truework, or a CSV / web form. On Managed, the result, recording and transcript are written back to the order queue you already run. Halorite does not replace The Work Number; it takes the files TWN cannot hit.
